Something that I am doing to be sure I stay actively drawing is carrying a sketchbook used only for doodling whatever I see or have time for. Permanent drawing implements only and every 5 pages switch to my left hand.  I learned this from Stefan Baum...

Well, I am starting to doodle and practice yet again!  I left things go when my grandson was getting chemo, radiation and multiple surgeries.  I still don't have much time, but I try and doodle or sketch in bed or in the car etc.  I watch Eli every d...

Hi friends, As you all know, I am a Freddie Mercury freak!  I raise money for the Mercury Phoenix Trust from time-to-time and this year in celebration of Freddie For A Day, I am again raising money.  This year I am auctioning off Freddie drawings.  One of the drawings up for auction is a charcoal I did of Freddie last year when I was just beginning to get back into drawing again.  I haven't done much since then as I have no time.  The other 2 drawings were done by my friend Dave Van Vlerah.  Please check out the auction and pass along the link to anyone you think would like to own a Freddie Mercury drawing while giving to a great cause at th

Thank you for the +Watch, Cindy.
You're obviously accomplished and knowledgeable, so excuse me if come across like a know it all.  I mean no disrespect.  I simply comment to others as if talking to myself.  In fact, there is no as if.  I look at the work and analyze as I do my own.  If you get tired of it, let me know.  Be blunt.  And feel free to return the favor, whether to crit my artwork or fiction writing.  Good critics are hard to come by.
Lol.  No, you don't come off like that.  You just sound very knowledgeable and are able to articulate very well, something I often struggle with.  Blunt, honest criticism is a good thing, I'm just not personally good at it and I never feel qualified.  Isn't that weird?  I am just a tad weird.  Lol.  I checked out your gallery and I think your art is gorgeous.  I love your figures.  They flow so naturally.  Beautiful drawings. A lot of fun things to look at in your gallery.  I wish I had more time!! If anything strikes me about your work that I think might be beneficial to you, I will try and articulate it for you.  You are very kind to spend time on my drawings.  Well it's run time and then off to bed.  I will do some more gallery browsing and a few sketches of my own, when I return,  I hope!!
  :icontailwagplz:  NP.  And thanks.
BTW- that is one of the benefits of actually studying art with the head instead of using only the hand.  it gives you the opportunity to intellectually analyze, which opens the door to critiquing the work of others.  Practicing critiques will accelerate your learning and press you to advance in skill, too.  Sometimes a more advanced artist will take you to school and make you eat your words, of course - but if you both have the right attitude about it, it is always mutually helpful.  I keep my critiques categorical, circumscribed and as neutral as possible where it comes to personal likes and dislikes.
Any time you want an honest and halfway well informed opinion, just ask.  ;)
Thank you, I will.  I haven't critiqued anyone in 5 years.  My artist friend asked for me to do so on some particular works of his.. That was the time I have done any critiquing for someone.

Hey! Cindy (from youtube) glad you stopped by.  (What? You couldn't say a "hello"?)  I'm going through your gallery. . . .
So sorry!!  Hey! Hello!  I am going to add some things so you can see my doodles and bare sketches, admittedly, many never completed due to time or boredom......
Great!
I think the sketch is where it's at.  That's the foundation.  A strong foundation is much more important than a nice finishing touch.
